All participants should have a back-up plan for any reason if they need to, or have to stop during the ride. For any riders who cannot complete the ride for any reason, we will provide a hotline to call to notify the coordinaters of the event of your status. SBA recommends always having an insurance policy that includes a 24/7 towing option. The ride will have ample bail out points, either to "catch-up", or to stop for the night. Having a fully charged cell phone, and a GPS receiver are always a good idea. A common emergency contact method is to create an ICE (In Case of Emergency) entry in your cell phone address book. EMT's often look for this when dealing with vehicle accident injuries to contact loved ones. Riding together with other riders is also a very smart thing to do. Carry tools and other gear that let you perform simple roadside repairs for common problems, such as punctured tires, etc. The SBA Hotline will be printed on the riders receipt envelope; if for any reason you cannot complete the ride in 25 hours or less, then you are required to call this hotline to provide us an update on your status. After 25 hours has elapsed, SBA will notify your emergency contact, and the California Highway Patrol with any information we have as to your situation, whereabouts, and the like. To save your loved ones from this unnecessary grief, make the call if you can't complete the ride. This will be covered in detail at the Mandatory riders meeting Saturday morning.
