Ultimately, you are the best judge of what you can and cannot do. This event is open to all riders and all motorcycles. It is an endurance event, and like other endurance activities, you need to prepare in order to ensure success.
The Iron Butt Association is the leading source of information on endurance riding. Their Archive of Wisdom is one of the best resources out there on the Internet for the endurance rider. SBA also suggests you ride your motorcycle and put in enough miles to ensure you can complete the event. SBA recommends you take several 200 - 400 mile rides in advance of the SBA Sport 1000. If you can ride 200-400 miles comfortably, then you can most likely complete the 1000 in the alloted time. The ride will have many convenient bail out points as well because its always better to live to ride another day. |
