The 2006 SBA Sport 1000 Ride is scheduled for July 8 and 9, starting and ending at the Antelope Valley Inn Hotel, Lancaster California. The ride will begin at 5:30a.m. on July 8, and all riders will have 24 hours to complete the ride, ending at 5:30am Sunday July 9.

SBA carefully selected the weekend of July 8, 9 as the ideal weekend of the year for this ride. Likewise, Lancaster California is a good starting and ending location as it provides the opportunity to ride the best roads in California, and attract riders from all over the southern and central state. The 2006 Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year measured between sunrise and sunset is June 21 (and therefore, also the shortest night of the year). Did you know the word Solstice is latin for "sun stands still"? The moon will be 93% illuminated on July 8. Also, there are no World Superbike, AMA Superbike, or MotoGP races schedule that weekend, so Tivo's can be recording other programming for us while we're out riding.
